I’ve Seen It All

Today, I will be reunited with some friends I haven’t seen in several weeks.

Three red-heads come to mind. One of them is married to a Cuban band leader and owner of the Tropicana night-club. I’ve known his wife since the sixth grade, and it was difficult to say good-bye to her a few weeks ago, after having seen her almost every night at 9 p.m. for the past nine years.

She’s always getting herself into trouble and getting under the skin of her hot-tempered husband. You try to tell her to behave herself, and that she’ll have a lot of ‘splaining’ to do when her husband comes home.

The other red-heads are brothers of the same name from Wellsville, in Clinton County; hundreds of miles away from the Hoover Dam. They hang out with their local ice cream man, Mr. Frostee, and even their imaginary, spandexed, superhero friend, Artie.

Lessons learned from them include: it’s not everything to be “normal”
