Ratdog headlines first concert at Matthews Arena in six years

Never has Matthew’s Arena been filled with such good karma as it was this past Saturday night. No, it wasn’t because Northeastern’s hockey team has suddenly gained an intense hippie following. Ratdog was there playing the first concert held at Matthew’s Arena in a very long time.

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Ratdog is a band started by Bob Weir, singer and guitarist for the Grateful Dead. The band sprung out of Weir’s relationship with bassist Rob Wasserman, a musician who studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and whose career includes work with Van Morrisson, Lou Reed and Neil Young.

The band achieved the notoriety it celebrates today when it welcomed in drummer Jay Lane, pianist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist Mark Karan and saxophonist Kenny Brooks
