Column: Melt away pounds in the snow

We are nearly three weeks into 2006 – 18 days to be exact – and chances are keeping your New Year’s resolution hasn’t been easy. Well, maybe it has been.

Maybe you decided on Jan. 2 that you’re tired of keeping your resolution or maybe you didn’t make one at all, which at least shows you’re being consistent.

Either way, the annual list of the Top 10 New Year’s resolutions on about.com shows working out and getting fit holds the number two spot (second only to spending more time with family and friends).

Just like we might not love chocolate so much if it wasn’t so bad for us, maybe going to the gym and exercising would be easier if it wasn’t so good for us.

But staying fit and active, especially in these freezing months of winter (which seem to make up three quarters of the year here in Boston), may be easier than we thought.
