Northeastern Crime Log

Crime Log entries are selected from Northeastern’s Division of Public Safety reports.

Tuesday, February 21 Noon A 19-year-old female student reported her purse stolen from her room in Speare Hall. It contained credit cards, a cell phone and $15. 1:30 p.m. A 20-year-old female student reported her purse stolen from the first floor of Snell Library. It contained credit cards, a driver’s license and $40. Wednesday, February 22 10 a.m. Two men were arrested for shoplifting from the Marino Center Wollaston’s after an employee followed them to Forsyth Street. Raheem Parham, 30, was arrested after he allegedly put packages of meat in his coat, and Steven Collymore, 35, was arrested after allegedly stealing eggs, cheese and butter. They were both arraigned the following day at Roxbury district court. 10:30 a.m. Boston Police officers inquired about fresh graffiti on the walls of a Northeastern-owned warehouse in Jamaica Plain, and discovered it matched that of a group of youths recently arrested. Police said they would add it to the other charges against the group. 1:30 p.m. Witnesses saw a youth throw a rock through a car window on Camden Street. Police located the youth and he was eventually identified by witnesses. 4 p.m. A non-Northeastern commuter returned to her car in the Renaissance Garage to find her window had been broken and her Global Positioning System (GPS) charger had been stolen from her car. 6 p.m. A non-Northeastern commuter returned to his car in the Renaissance Garage to find that his window had been broken and his GPS charger had been stolen from his car. Thursday, February 23 8:30 a.m. Staff of West Village C reported that many light bulbs had been removed from light fixtures in the elevators and smashed on the floor.

Noon A 23-year-old graduate student reported a credit card used to buy supplies for a graduate research program had been stolen from Lake Hall and used several times. 7 p.m. A 19-year-old female student reported her 21-year-old non-student former boyfriend had been harassing her. Officers have warned him not to approach her anymore. Two knives were also confiscated from him. Friday, February 24 5:30 p.m. A Northeastern hockey coach reported several expensive hockey sticks had been stolen overnight. Saturday, February 25 1 a.m. Apartments at 319 Huntington Ave. were evacuated after a fire alarm sounded. It is believed the alarm was set off when a resident tampered with a fire extinguisher. The case will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR). 2:30 a.m. A 20-year-old student reported he and his 21-year-old friend were assaulted by an unknown student while they were playing catch in the West Village quad. 10 a.m. Matthews Arena staff reported that several hockey sticks were stolen from the visitor’s locker room during Friday night’s game. Sunday, February 26 1:30 a.m. An intoxicated 24-year-old male student was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after being seen stumbling around the West Village quad. 1:30 a.m. Officers responded to a noise complaint at a party at 69 Gainsborough St. party. Alcohol was served at the party and the two 20-year-old hosts will be referred to OSCCR. 5:30 p.m. An 18-year-old male resident of Smith Hall reported his cell phone and watch stolen from his room. He claims his roommate had guests over during the weekend. The incident is still under investigation.

5:30 p.m. A 19-year-old female resident of Smith Hall reported her cell phone had been stolen during the night. She says her roommate had friends in the room while she slept. The incident is still under investigation. 6 p.m. Officers responding to other incidents smelled marijuana in a Smith Hall room. One 18-year-old and one 19-year-old resident of the room initially denied smoking marijuana, before turning over a small amount to police. They will be reported to OSCCR.
