Allston/Brighton

By Marc Larocque

Already populated by loads of Boston University students, Northeastern students fit well into the Allston-Brighton area.

Taking up most of the B-line after Boston University, the neighborhood is also populated with housing comparable in price to Mission Hill.

It is an industrious section with a large population of Asian American families, and some sort of discount furniture or thrift store on every corner.

Everyone from students to the elderly travel the streets of Allston through all hours of the day and night, according to Northeastern’s off-campus housing Web site.

Unlike Allston, Brighton is fairly quiet, especially at night. The neighborhood, which is primarily populated by graduate students, young professionals and families, consists of an intricate network of streets lined with houses and small apartment buildings, according to the site.
