RSA elects VPs for finance, admin.

The Resident Student Association (RSA) re-elected sophomore accounting and marketing major Christy Capriccio as its vice president for finance and elected sophomore Meghan McCormick as its next vice president for administration last week. Both ran unopposed.

McCormick is replacing middler legal studies major Elizabeth Cilia, who spoke highly of McCormick’s abilities to continue her success with RSA.

“I’m very confident that she’ll carry out the responsibilities for next year,” Cilia said. “I’m happy to pass the position on to her.”

Capriccio was elected last semester after the resignation of middler engineering major Elliot Inz, who cited time constraints as his reason for leaving office.

“Throughout the past year, I learned a lot,” she said. “But things still need to improve.”

Capriccio described her many successes over the past year, which included faster turnarounds on payments, reconciling the budget and managing her time-consuming RSA position with a full time co-op job.

She also outlined goals for the upcoming year, including better resident assistant training to eliminate confusion over programming funds, integrating a more stable funding process and filing system and improving RSA’s relationship with ResLife.

She said the most important thing is to make sure she can pass the position on to someone else.

McCormick is a two-year RSA member and also served as assistant vice president to Cilia. She cited her “super-organized” and “detail-oriented” personality as reasons to elect her to the position.

In her speech, she outlined her agenda for the upcoming year, which includes better management of office assistants, requiring each hall council to be represented at General Council meetings and increasing RSA exposure to the student community.

“[My goals are] recruitment, retention and getting RSA’s name out there,” McCormick said.

But she said the most exciting component of her more prominent role in RSA is having a larger influence on the organization and “working with all these stellar people.”
