Faculty Senate reduces double major requirement The Faculty Senate passed a resolution at its April 26 meeting making it easier for students to double major across two colleges. Under current rules, students wishing to double major across colleges must complete an extra 30 credit hours, which history professor Gerry Herman described as “arbitrary.” The new resolution would eliminate this requirement, making it so students will only have to complete the requirements for the two degrees. At the six-hour year-end meeting, the senate also discussed the addition of numerous degree programs to the School of Professional and Continuing Studies and heard reports from various committees, including the Research Policy Oversight Committee, the Committee on Information Technology Policy, the Committee on Financial Affairs and the Committee on Library Policies and Operations.
