Men’s Track ‘ Field: Anderson returns, scores 16 points in two throwing events

By Adam Riglian

The Huskies returned to form this week after the absence of senior Derek Anderson from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships.

The team chose not to attack the New England Championships May 13 in Cambridge; instead they conserved energy for the IC4As. Only three throwers were sent to the regional meet at MIT. Sophomore Ed Reardon took third in the hammer throw, scoring the Huskies’ only points. Junior Ricardo Parente and junior Semui Alli also competed in the javelin and shot put respectively, but neither managed to place.

The diminished squad finished 29th overall out of 36 teams.

The IC4A meet saw heavy competition and the return of Anderson. Northeastern finished 13th overall in the meet and second among CAA teams, behind champion George Mason.

Anderson scored 16 points, taking second in both the shot put and discus.

Sophomore Bamidele Faboyede and freshman Nate Hunter took sixth place in the hammer throw and shot put, respectively, to round out the point scorers for the Huskies.

The team competes next at the NCAA East Regional on May 26 and May 27.
