Column: Why we hate the Evil Empire

Pure, unadulterated hatred. It’s not a pleasant thing.

Sometimes, it’s hard to discuss. Usually, it’s controversial. Always (at least to those who are sane), it’s something that one hopes can be eliminated.

People hate other people. Countries hate other countries. Rock bands hate other rock bands. Car drivers hate other car drivers.

Whether you personally have hatred for anyone or anything, it’s out there. And even though I try hard not to, I suffer from it too.

I possess pure, unadulterated hatred for a professional baseball team. Laughable as it is and as lighthearted of a form of hatred it might seem to be on the surface, it exists.
