NU ranked 98th by U.S. News ‘ World Report

Northeastern has joined the top 100 universities in the nation, according to the latest edition of U.S. News ‘ World Report’s America’s Best Colleges. The rankings, which were released today, set Northeastern as number 98, advancing 17 spots from last year and 52 spots since 2001.

“We believe that our peers are now recognizing what we have known for some time,” Provost Ahmed Abdelah said in a release from the university. “Northeastern is attracting top-flight faculty, sought-after students, and significant research funding from federal agencies and private donors commensurate with the nation’s very best universities.”

Joining the top 100 was a goal established early in the tenure of former President Richard Freeland, who stepped down Monday after 10 years in the university’s top position.
