Women’s Soccer: Perfect at Parsons

A rousing, intensely physical 1-0 win Sunday against Drexel on Senior Day capped the Huskies’ perfect 7-0 record at home and pushed NU to the brink of a playoff birth.

A win or a tie next Thursday at Hofstra (9-8-1, 5-5) guarantees NU will advance to the CAA playoffs, and likely set up a first-round meeting with Virginia Commonwealth, whom the Huskies fell to 2-1 last week. A loss, and NU can still sneak into the playoffs if VCU beats or ties James Madison next Friday. If the Dukes beats VCU and the Huskies loses its final regular season game, both JMU and Northeastern would be tied with 17 conference points. Tiebreakers would determine who advances. (JMU beat NU 4-2 last week).

On Sunday, a goal during the 88th minute of play by redshirt freshman midfielder Liza Rebello (team high six goals) propelled a large crowd into a momentary frenzy following an afternoon of missed opportunities against the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) last-place Drexel club (4-12-1, 1-9).
