Students react to decision to close peer tutoring center

Following heavy outcry from students after the ` of the closing of the Peer Tutoring Center earlier this month, several meetings were held to address concerns and reveal a pilot plan for new tutoring services.

This plan would be a smaller scale version of the upcoming tutoring system, which features decentralized tutoring taught by peer tutors, teaching assistants and graduate students.

Upon receiving notification April 7 about the Peer Tutoring Center’s closing, Julie Levy, president of the Northeastern University Tutoring Society (NUTS), shared the message with the center’s tutors and tutees, and began an online petition to express their concerns. The petition had 230 signatures as of presstime.
