Dean of Libraries announces resignation Dean and Director of University Libraries Edward Warro announced his resignation last week. Warro, who has presided over Northeastern Libraries since 2001, will go on to establish a library to serve the branch university campus in Education City, Qatar. “[Warro] has worked diligently to strengthen our library information resources and services during a time of rising costs, technological expansion and institutional transition,” said Executive Vice Provost Susan Powers-Lee in an announcement on the myNEU portal. William Wakeling, the current associate dean of university libraries, has agreed to serve as acting dean until a permanent replacement is appointed. He has worked at Northeastern for almost nine years. He previously held positions for 11 years in libraries in the United Kingdom.

ISSI warns about fraudulent e-mails Information Security and Identity Services (ISSI) is warning students to look out for fraudulent e-mails claiming to be from the US Department of Justice. The Department of Justice issued an advisory earlier this month about the e-mails and said government agencies do not send such messages by e-mail. The subject line typically contains the recipient’s name and a complaint case number. The e-mails often have an attachment that claims to be a copy of a so-called “complaint.” ISSI recommends students delete the e-mails immediately without opening attachments or links.
