Rounding up the 51st Grammys

By Sean Leviashvili, News staff

The only thing missing from last night’s sweeping Grammy ceremony was an OBGYN, as a ready-to-burst M.I.A. kept her commitment to rap alongside Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wanye ‘-‘ despite it being the due date for her first child.

For better or worse, the Jonas Brothers also collaborated with Stevie Wonder on their single ‘Burning Up,’ which segued into Wonder’s classic pop hit ‘Superstition.’

Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus also teamed up to sing Swift’s ‘Fifteen,’ from her latest album, Fearless.

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards aired on CBS last night, showcasing everyone from Neil Diamond to Justin Timberlake, Adele and more.

Winners included Allison Krauss and Robert Plant, who took home four awards, including Album of the Year, for Raising Sand, and Coldplay, who took home several including Best Rock Album for Viva la Vida. Ne-Yo’s netted Best Male R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song for his 2008 hit, ‘Miss Independent.’

Jennifer Hudson and her self-titled debut took home R&B Album of the Year. During her performance last night, the soul singer broke into tears.

Adele, who gained US momentum last year, earned Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal. John Mayer and Radiohead were big winners too, with Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance and Best Alternative Music Album, respectively.
