Time slot announced for Northeastern-Wright State BracketBuster
Details for the men’s basketball team’s BracketBuster game against Wright State were revealed Monday. Northeastern will take on the Raiders Saturday, Feb. 21 in Dayton, Ohio at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN360.com. The BracketBusters event is designed to be a two-day college basketball event that features NCAA Tournament hopefuls facing off against one another. Wright State will visit Matthews Arena next season as part of the event’s agreement.

Ten football players named to CAA Academic All-Conference team
Ten members of the football team were named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Academic All-Conference team this week. The league offices announced that sophomores offensive lineman Greg Niland, linebacker David Akinniyi, tight end Jay Bornstein, defensive back Nate Thellen; juniors offensive lineman Zach Abrams, punter Ron Conway, offensive lineman Kevin Newhall, defensive lineman Jason Vega; and senior quarterbacks Anthony Orio and John Sperrazza were named to the squad. To be eligible, a player must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a 3.0 grade point average during their academic career. The CAA named 107 players throughout the 12-team conference to the team.

Chris Donovan named Hockey East Reebok Co-Player of the Week
Junior forward Chris Donovan’s standout week for the men’s hockey team earned him Co-Player of the Week honors in Hockey East, along with Boston University forward Nick Bonino. Donovan had a goal and three assists in the Huskies’ 6-1 Beanpot semifinal win over Boston College last Monday and added a shorthanded goal against Merrimack Friday. Donovan is in the midst of a breakout year for NU, with 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) so far this season after posting 14 total in his previous two years. His 15 points are eighth on the team.
