Awards keep coming for Brad Thiessen
Even after leaving Northeastern, the awards are still piling up for Brad Thiessen. The junior netminder, who chose to skip his senior season and signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins last week, was named Hockey East ITECH Goalie of the Month for March, the league announced Tuesday. Thiessen posted a 3-4 record with a 2.21 goals against average in seven March games, including five playoff games. It was his fourth Hockey East monthly honor this season. A Hobey Hat Trick Finalist, Thiessen will be at the Frozen Four in Washington D.C. this Friday along with Boston University’s Colin Wilson and Matt Gilroy. The winner of the award will be announced at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.

‘ Nate Hunter honored by Colonial’ conference
Junior Nate Hunter of the men’s track team was named Colonial Athletic Association Field Co-Athlete of the week, the conference announced Monday. Hunter won the shot put at the Clyde Little Texas Relays Saturday in Austin, Texas. At the meet, Hunter threw the shot put 61-feet, 6.75-inches on his second attempt, which held for the victory and was his career best.
