NU receives grant for science scholarships
Administration members announced Northeastern has launched a new scholarship program, Investing in Tomorrow’s Engineering Leaders, to encourage students to pursue degrees in the science, technology, engineering and math fields, according to local media reports. The program, which is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, will make students from surrounding community colleges eligible for three yearly scholarships of $10,000 each. The students will be able to transfer into Northeastern. The $575,000 grant will fund the program for five years starting fall 2010 and will allow academically successful, financially needy student access to research opportunities and mentoring programs with faculty and staff.
