By By Kirby Morrison, News Staff

Women’s basketball head coach Daynia La-force-Mann announced Tuesday that the team added Rashard Thurston as an administrative assistant and former Husky Jody Burrows to the coaching staff.
Thurston, a 2006 graduate of Florida A&M, was an assistant coach and student-teacher at C. Leon King High School in Tampa. He also taught American history and was assistant coach of the varsity boys basketball team at Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla.
Burrows, who graduated Northeastern in 2007, said she is looking to come back to Northeastern basketball, but this time as part of the coaching staff. Burrows was a three-time captain for the Huskies and ranks fourth all-time in assists. She also holds the single season assist record with 143, which she set during the 2005-06 season.
Thurston will assist in exchanging game film with other teams and coordination for the Huskies, while Burrows will help develop Northeastern’s point guards. Burrows will also help in recruiting, film exchange and game day operations.
The team opens the 2009-10 season at 2009 national champion UConn Nov. 14.
