Sports briefs: Women

Members of the women’s hockey team got a feel for a Fenway Park last night.
Interim co-head coaches Linda Lundrigan and Lauren McAuliffe joined their three captains ‘- senior forward Annie Hogan, senior defenseman Katy Applin, and junior defenseman Julia Marty ‘- at Fenway before the Red Sox game against the Los Angeles Angels. The women represented Northeastern in a pregame ceremony to promote the college hockey doubleheader to be played at Fenway Jan. 8, 2010. The Huskies will face the University of New Hampshire at 4 p.m., while the Boston College and Boston University’ men will play at 7:30. The women’s game will be the first-ever outdoor women’s college hockey game.
The team opens play with an exhibition contest against Dawson Sept. 26 at Matthews Arena, with the regular season and home-opener Oct. 3 against Union.
