William & Mary opened the game on a 17-2 run, and held a 31-8 lead after the first quarter. Head coach Kelly Cole questioned whether her team was ready to start the game.

William & Mary, meanwhile, filled the basket to the tune of 12-18 from the field, including 5-8 from three point range. Seven different players scored points for them in the quarter.
