The anticipation was high in the House of Blues Monday night as the crowd waited for Dua Lipa to take the stage for the sold-out show. Under the dim stage lights audience members could make out the silhouettes of band members as they played the long instrumental start to Lipa’s hit song, “Hotter than Hell.” Lipa made her debut as she twirled onto the stage in a silky orange top and baggy plaid pants, yelling for the crowd to put their hands up and sing along.  The crowd was more than happy to oblige and immediately started going crazy.

“It feels so good to be back on tour,” Lipa said. “Thank you so much for all the support.”

After the high energy introduction, she slowed things down with her songs “Dreams/ No Lie” and “Lost in Your Light.” However, things picked right back up as Lipa asked the audience if they wanted to keep dancing, and followed with a fan favorite, “Blow Your Mind.” The crowd went wild as Lipa glided across the stage.

Shortly after Lipa’s song, “Thinking ‘Bout You,” she took a flag from a fan in the front row adorned with “Boston Loves You” and hundreds of messages from fans.

“This is incredible,” she said. “Thank you for making this a pleasure.”

Lipa left the flag on stage for all to see for the remainder of the show. She followed up with her first promotional single ever released, “New Love.” Her new album, “Dua Lipa,” has quickly become a success with five of the songs making it into the top 40. She also co-wrote nine of the 12 songs on the album.

As the show came to a close, Lipa asked for the house lights to be brought up so she could see the fans filling the venue. Lipa sang two of her songs from the new album, “Homesick,” and her first stand alone single, “Be the One.” She closed her set with her much anticipated hit, “New Rules.” The crowd roared as she encouraged them to sing along with her. Lipa ended the night with a final thank you to the crowd.

“Thank you for being so much fun and being a part of this journey,” she said.

This was Lipa’s first show on the U.S. portion of her self-titled tour and if it was any indication for the remainder of the dates, Lipa has a fun-filled few months ahead of her.
