Thursday, March 1

Are you a fan of optical illusions? If so, you’re in luck, because Dutch printmaker M.C. Escher’s “Infinite Dimensions” exhibition is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts. On Thursday evening, the museum will host a talk about Escher’s works. The program will be moderated by Ronni Baer, the senior curator of paintings. Guest speakers include James Stroud, a printmaker, and Erik Demaine, a computer science professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; Museum of Fine Arts; $10 for MFA members, $12 for non-members.

 

Friday, March 2

Head to the Museum of Science for their latest Free Film Friday. Watch some amazing documentaries in the including “Mysteries of China,” which is about ancient Chinese archaeology, and “Amazon Adventure,” which is about explorer Henry Bates’s 11-year journey through the Amazon rainforest in the museum’s Omni theatre. Pick up your free tickets at the museum box office on the day of the show. Tickets are first-come, first-serve. Saturday, March 3

If you ever wanted to eat chocolate for breakfast, Taza Chocolate has you covered! Taza Chocolate is a shop that specializes in stone ground chocolate products, and they will be serving champorado, a delicious Filipino chocolate rice porridge, at Boston Public Market. If you’re vegan, don’t worry they’ll have sweetened condensed coconut milk just for the occasion. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Boston Public Market; Prices vary.

 

 

Sunday, March 4

The 90th Academy Awards Ceremony has a great list of nominees lined up, including “Call Me by Your Name” and “Lady Bird” for Best Picture. Trident Booksellers and Cafe is hosting a viewing party with plenty of food and Oscar-themed bingo, so join other movie fanatics as you watch this year’s top stars compete for gold status. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door, and all funds will go to TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, which provides support to those who have experienced sexual harassment, assault or abuse. 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.; Trident Booksellers and Cafe; $5 suggested donation.

 

Monday, March 5

Want to try your hand at augmented reality? Cambridge Community Television, a community media center, and Charity Everett, a virtual and augmented reality storyteller, are hosting a workshop. The workshop, which will be at Cambridge Community Television’s headquarters, will explore how augmented reality has become a new way of storytelling. Participants will learn what augmented reality is, then get the chance to create an augmented reality experience. 1 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Cambridge; Free.

 

Tuesday, March 6

Five Berklee College of Music bands will perform at the Red Room at Cafe 939 as part of the school’s monthly Original Bands Showcase series. Mayah Dyson and Exclusiv3, Red Mill – U.S., Me X 4, ÁBI – 아비가일 김 and The Canvas Collective will each perform original songs. Go and enjoy music of several different genres, including pop, soul and alternative rock. 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Boston; Free.

 

Wednesday, March 7

Want to learn about African culture and history while you learn how to cook African food? Oldways, an organization that seeks to inspire healthy eating through cultural food traditions, is hosting a free program called “Taste of African Heritage” at The Kitchen at the Daily Table in Dorchester. Participants will learn how to cook and eat healthy and enjoyable food while learning how to adopt these skills for better health in their lives. 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Dorchester; Free.
