The Northeastern women’s hockey team was hoping to close out its regular season with a win over the Providence Friars Sunday night at Schneider Arena.

Northeastern women’s hockey falls short of Harvard 4-3 in Beanpot consolation game

Northeastern finished fourth in the women’s Beanpot tournament for the first time since 2015, a frustrating and disappointing loss for the Huskies. The team’s win percentage has now dropped below .500 for the season.

“I really feel like we were the better team tonight, but not being able to capitalize on our chances was the thing that really hurt us,” said head coach Dave Flint. “Take out the first period and I was pleased with my team’s performance in the second and third.”

Northeastern women’s hockey endures tough weekend in Vermont

The Huskies went into the weekend series looking for two much-needed wins as their season quickly winds down. Although the Catamounts do not hold the best season record, sitting at seventh in Hockey East with a 6-16-4 overall record prior to the series against Northeastern, the Huskies were aiming to ignore the standings and get the job done.

Women’s hockey tops UConn 5-3

The Huskies grabbed the lead just 34 seconds into the game with a goal by second-year defenseman Codie Cross, who earned her 25th career point with the goal. NU’s quick goal jump-started a dominant first period.

Women’s hockey battles back from two down, ties rival BU 3-3

The Northeastern women’s hockey team welcomed their cross-city rivals from Boston University to Matthews Arena Tuesday night for the 81st all-time meeting between the teams. The 3-3 draw was the teams’ first faceoff in 2018; the Huskies took the previous two contests earlier in the season by scores of 3-2 (OT) and 6-3.

Women’s hockey earns ninth straight victory over league foe UConn

The Northeastern University women’s hockey team started the new year with a dominant 4-2 win against the University of Connecticut (UConn) Tuesday night at Matthews Arena. It was the first meeting between the teams in nearly a year. Northeastern won the previous eight matchups.

Women’s hockey scores early and often, powers past UNH

The Huskies battled Hockey East foe University of New Hampshire for the third and final time of the regular season, coming away with a win to secure a 2-1 record against them over the three games.
First-year goalie Aerin Frankel got the start in net over third-year Brittany Bugalski, who took the loss in a Friday night game against UNH where the Huskies fell in overtime 2-1.

Women’s puck finds unlikely hero in Frankel

Frankel’s first start came Nov. 10, when she earned her first shut-out and led the team to a 3-0 win over Merrimack. A day later, Frankel helped the team to a 1-1 tie with Merrimack, stopping 51 of 52 shots faced over the weekend series. Her outstanding play earned her recognition, being named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

“This was a big game, especially since it’s a league game,” head coach Dave Flint said after the game. “[Maine] is a tough opponent for us, they’ve got a lot of skill and a great goalie.”
